I found 4Results via Volunteer Match in late 2010 and met my "match" in March 2011. I received excellent mentor training and have great support from the 4Results team. I have re-upped twice now and am entering my fourth year in the program. It is a tremendous joy to watch my friend grow and navigate the transition from elementary school to middle school! She is a bright spot in my week and has referred to visits with me as the bright spot in hers. She loves chatting with me as a friend and I love being a sounding board and source of fun and encouragement for her. We usually meet once a week for an hour or two and do anything from driving around and chatting to window shopping, to craft and holiday projects, and taking walks. We've had a few special adventures including going to the Rose Festival and touring the Navy ships and going to the pumpkin patch and Corn Maze on Sauvie's Island. I can't imagine not sticking with my friend throughout her youth.

I highly recommend 4-Results Mentoring Program to anyone who would consider becoming a volunteer mentor and come alongside a child to make a truly positive, encouraging, authentic, supportive, and long-lasting impact in the life of a kid who is desperately in need of friendship that comes with a commitment of unconditional love. I've been a volunteer mentor through 4-Results in a long-term relationship with a young man I met when he was 12, and who is now almost 21. We are now life long friends. The training I received before I was matched with my friend was exceptional, and with role-play in situational experiences, I felt comfortable with being able to handle almost any issue that might arise within an adult-child relstionship. My friend and I have shared many joys, sorrows, and emotional highs and lows throughout our years together, but I feel deep in my heart that the time invested has helped us to bond and be open and transparent in our friendship. Trust happens!
